Andrea J. Scott M.S.
Owner / Director / Instructor / Field Supervisor
Andrea has been training adult learners in Montessori philosophy and methodology for over 20 years, locally and internationally. A Montessori child herself, Andrea was enrolled in the first class at Clay-Platte Children’s House, a Montessori school established by her mother in 1966 in the Kansas City area. She founded the first Montessori school in the Vail Valley in 1995 before moving back to Kansas City and purchasing Clay-Platte Children’s House where she was the owner/director until 2016. Presently, Andrea focuses on adult Montessori education while also providing consulting work, workshops and seminars.
Andrea holds a BS in psychology and an MS in counseling. She trained in Montessori early childhood and elementary and received her Montessori certification in Early Childhood in 1981.
Andrea has merged her love of children and the Montessori philosophy with her passion for travel and is always looking for opportunities to share Montessori in challenging areas around the world.
Instructor / Field Supervisor
Svetlana has over thirty years of professional experience in education with an emphasis in mathematics, fifteen of those years as a Montessori director, working with children ages 3 – 12. Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, Svetlana received her BS in mathematics from Herzen State Pedagogical University and taught secondary mathematics for ten years before moving to the USA. She completed her Montessori certification in Early Childhood in 2008.
Svetlana has been the instructor for mathematics with MTPKC since 2009. She has also trained adult learners in South Africa and provided workshops for preschool teachers in Kenya, focusing on hands on math activities. Svetlana enjoys traveling in the USA and internationally and looks forward to providing more training and workshops around the world in the future.
Mary Cusack is currently the Executive Coordinator for MEPI and also holds aseat on the MEPI Board of Directors.She is a Montessori teacher educator and certified at the Early Childhood 3-6 level. She began teaching for MTPKC in 2004 and currently continues as the Language and Cultural Arts instructor.Mary is also a certified Master Gardener, has a seat on the local board and has served as President of the local Master Gardener organization for the past 3years. She and her husband of 47 years have 2 grown children and enjoy a peaceful lifestyle which includes gardening, nature identification and woodland living.
